How did I wait until 2012 for some of these….

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly meme hosted
by The Broke and the Bookish. They like lists over
there, and what's more fun than lists about books?

Up for discussion this week is….

Top Ten Favorite New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2012

As of today, I am officially free for one month, and I cannot wait to delve into my reading pile!  To celebrate, I am so back into hardcore blogging it isn’t even funny.

Here’s my Top Ten for today in no particular order… and yes, I know I am super late on some of these awesome writers. I honestly have no idea how I waited until this year to discover a few of them.

1. Sarah Pennypacker
What a marvelous middle grade writer. I can’t wait to get to know Clementine!
2. Eileen Cook
Her book list is extensive but her newest release, The Almost Truth, is one I’m super excited about.
3. Ally Carter
With my love of heist/spy stories, I must have been living under a rock. News of Double Crossed made my week.
4. Adam Gidwitz
His books will be a gem in my classroom–especially for middle school boys.
5. E. Lockhart
Probably one of my new favorite-favorite authors. I have heard tremendous things about her Ruby Oliver series, so those are up next!

6. Jodi Lynn Anderson
A flawless retelling of my favorite classic children’s novel? Sign me up for every other book she has written.
7.  Lauren Oliver
She definitely stole not only my middle grade heart, but my YA one as well.
8. Maggie Stiefvater
Don’t say a word. The Scorpio Races will be read ASAP.
9. Scott Westerfeld
WHAT? A male dystopian/sci-fi/paranormal/steampunk writer? Jackpot!
10. Laini Taylor
I will read anything this woman writes–even if it is in the TV Guide.

Book Talk: Any of these authors find their way into your book hearts this year? Who else should I check out?

Hopeful reading everyone!
